The National Archives of Nepal is the custodian of the records of enduring value of the Government of Nepal. This is the principal institution for the management, protection, and preservation of the country’s archival documents. This organization is also the member of the International Council on Archives (ICA) and the South and West Asian Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (SWARBICA). It consists of two main sections:
The Archival Section: The Archival Section is responsible for the receiving, storing, managing and publishing the archival documents. Under the Archival Section, there are five sub-sections: Archive, Manuscripts, Tibetan, Library and Conservation.
The Microfilm and Electronic Record Management Section; The well-equipped Microfilm and Electronic Record Management Section is responsible for the microfilming, digitizing and reproducing the records and providing access on them to the researchers.
